How I Work

Designing a home is not about making isolated decisions.
It is about creating coherence between inside and outside, architecture and interiors, function and atmosphere.

I work in clearly defined phases that allow for a thoughtful, structured process, while leaving room for intuition and refinement. This approach ensures that every decision contributes to a home that feels balanced, natural, and truly lived in.

1. Initial Consultation

Every project starts with a two-hour in-home consultation.

This first meeting allows me to understand the property, the surroundings, and how you want to live in the space. We discuss layout, flow, materials, atmosphere and priorities, while also identifying opportunities and constraints early on.

Just as importantly, this consultation allows both of us to assess whether we are the right fit before moving forward.

The initial consultation is offered as a dedicated service and is invoiced separately.

2. Design Phase

Following the consultation, I prepare a tailored design proposal based on the scope of the project.

Design fees are determined by the size of the property, the number of spaces involved, and the level of detail and complexity required. Depending on the project, the design phase may include spatial layouts, material and colour concepts, furniture and lighting guidance, and bespoke solutions where appropriate.

Each design decision is made in relation to the whole, ensuring coherence rather than a collection of individual choices.

3. Implementation Support (optional)

Some projects end at the design phase. Others benefit from continued involvement during the realisation itself.

For clients who want support beyond the design, I offer implementation support as a separate service. This is not about managing a build or overseeing a contractor. It is about being available at the moments when design decisions actually happen. When materials arrive and look different than expected, when a supplier suggests an alternative, or when a practical constraint requires a creative adjustment on the spot.

What this looks like in practice

Implementation support can take different forms depending on the project and how it is being realised. Some clients prefer occasional check-ins at key moments. Others value a more continuous presence throughout the process. Both are possible, and the level of involvement is defined in advance.

It may include coordination and alignment with local suppliers and artisans, reviewing material samples and finish combinations as they come together, on-site or remote support for real-time decisions, and guidance on final furniture, lighting and accessory selections.

Why it matters

A design is only as good as its execution. Small decisions made during a build, the exact placement of a light fitting, the final choice between two stone finishes, how a transition between inside and outside is handled, can quietly strengthen or undermine the whole. Having a designer involved at those moments protects the integrity of the work.

The result is a home that not only reflects the design vision, but feels considered all the way through.

A Considered Way of Working

I work with a limited number of projects at a time, allowing for personal attention, clear communication, and thoughtful decision-making.

The result is a home that feels calm, functional and connected to its surroundings, where interior and exterior come together as one considered whole.

Next Step

If you are interested in working together, the Initial Consultation* is the natural starting point.

* is offered as a standalone service and is invoiced separately.

Why I Love to Be Involved Early

One of the things I love most about my work is being able to shape a home from its very first lines on paper. Being involved early in the process, when the placement of doors, windows, and even skylights is still flexible, gives me the opportunity to make sure every decision supports the soul of the house.

For me, this is where the real design begins. It’s not about adding elements afterwards, but about designing a home that feels right from the very start. Early involvement allows me to think along with you about how natural light will move through the space, how you will experience the views, and how the flow between indoors and outdoors can feel effortless.

I always look beyond the floor plan. I imagine how you will live, how you will feel, and how the house will connect you to its surroundings. Whether it is finding the perfect spot for a window to frame the morning sun, suggesting a skylight to capture the soft southern light, or adjusting the layout to enhance the sense of openness. These early choices make all the difference.

By thinking together from the start, we can create a home that feels grounded, authentic, and alive. A home that works not just on paper, but in daily life.
