Split Level Kitchen & Living

Practice Space Coaching

This page shows the complete design process for this project, from initial brief to final proposal. The design was not fully realised as intended, but several elements were adopted by the client. It offers a transparent and detailed look at how I approach and develop an interior design.

A Warm Transformation: Redesigning with Purpose and Style

The client envisions a refreshed interior that exudes warmth and sophistication. She seeks to enhance the cozy ambiance of her living space while replacing select pieces of outdated furniture. The kitchen requires attention due to minor water damage, and the current wall finishes no longer reflect her desired aesthetic.

My challenge is to create a cohesive design for a complete makeover, seamlessly blending existing elements such as the tiled floor and key furniture pieces, with new, carefully curated additions. The goal is to craft a harmonious, inviting environment that balances comfort, style, and functionality.

My Approach
During the initial exploratory meeting, I paid extensive attention to the client’s wishes and discussed visual materials with her. Based on all this information, I created the first visual concepts for vision, the colors and material palette.

To gain a 100% clear understanding of the client’s style preferences, I created three thematic mood boards and discussed them with her. This approach allowed me to better identify what truly resonates with her and understand the reasons behind her choices.

For each theme, I created a 2D design to give the client a clear impression of how this style could be brought to life in her living space. I discussed the advantages and disadvantages with her, which helped us arrive at a final 2D design. The client was particularly excited about the possibility of installing an electric fireplace, which I incorporated into the final design.

After the client approved the color scheme and style moodboard, I created an atmospheric impression to double-check if it aligned with what she was looking for.

First 3 D Design - Practice Space Coach

A wall finish and wallpaper plan ensures clarity before the execution phase begins.

In many projects, uncertainty arises not from the design itself but from the interpretation during implementation. By documenting exactly which material, colour or wallpaper is used on each wall, ceiling or architectural element, the design becomes unambiguous for both the client and the craftsmen involved.

This plan translates the design concept into a clear visual guide. It shows precisely what is applied where, including paint colours, finishes and wallpaper placement. As a result, decisions made during the design phase are carried through consistently in the execution, avoiding misunderstandings on site and ensuring that the final space reflects the intended atmosphere and coherence of the design.

The client decided on the layout and style, which we translated into both 2D and 3D visualizations. Based on these impressions, we have further develop detailed plans, including the lighting design, finishes and materials, and the furniture layout.

A Last-Minute Change, Seamlessly Integrated

Sometimes, design is about adapting to unexpected decisions. In this project, the client ultimately decided to keep her beloved chairs and dining table, which had been part of her home for years, even though they weren’t originally included in the concept. To ensure they blended seamlessly into the space, I adjusted the design by introducing an elegant olive-green sofa for balance and warmth. Additionally, I replaced the dining area’s pendant lights with delicate metalwork fixtures, adding a refined touch. The result is a cohesive and stylish interior where every element feels intentional, even the unexpected ones.

“The interior plan that Brigitte designed for me really exceeded my expectations. I asked her to add more color to my interior, to better coordinate the furniture and to create more coziness and warmth. From the first moment she had a perfect sense of what I wanted, even things that I couldn’t quite put into words. Her eye for detail, her creative solutions and her professional approach make her work unique. The result is not only beautiful, but also practical and tailored to my personal style and needs.

I finally feel at home in my own space and that is thanks to her vision and expertise. I would recommend Brigitte to anyone looking for an interior that is both functional and inspiring.”
